In line with the seminar cycle, this meeting will propose a reflection on tourism and literature and will be divided into two panels. The first, curated by Prof. Cristina Trinchero (University of Turin, Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures and Modern Cultures), will focus on literary tourism, with particular attention to the practices of trekking and literary walks, which combine the physical experience of walking with the discovery of places evoked by literature. The second panel, curated by Miriam Begliuomini (postdoctoral fellow at the University of Turin, Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures and Modern Cultures) will explore the contribution of the Swiss writer Rodolphe Töpffer (19th century), known for his “voyages en zigzag” in the Alps and the resulting writings, which interweave narration, geography and autobiography, giving rise to an interesting reflection on the experience of the traveller and the tourist. This meeting will also be an opportunity to summarise and illustrate the meaning of the project ‘the World Literature Knowledge Graph’, part of the broader project ‘CON.NE.C.T. W.O.N.D.E.R.S. – CONnecting NEw Cultural Tourism WAys Open to Networking Digital Experience in Representing Sites’, which connects and analyses these topics within a broader research framework.
